The Organisation

The UN Capital Development Fund makes public and private finance work for the poor in the world’s 46 least developed countries. UNCDF offers “last mile” finance models that unlock public and private resources, especially at the domestic level, to reduce poverty and support local economic development


The Assignment

The Pacific Digital Economy Programme is a relatively new workstream that aims to facilitate inclusive digital economies, connecting individuals, households, and small businesses with financial eco-systems that catalyse participation in the local economy, and provide tools to climb out of poverty and manage financial lives.   A Country Coordinator is needed to support the implementation of this programme. Based in Port Vila, the Volunteer will provide expertise in respect of the following:

  • support assessment and data analysis to inform the National Digital Economy Strategy;
  • support the capacity building of policy makers and regulators in the review and amendment of policies and regulations affecting the digital economy;
  • support the development and scaling of new and existing open banking solutions, shared digital payment networks and e-commerce platforms; and
  • facilitate stakeholder relationships and new partnerships across the digital economy.


The Volunteer

We are looking for a Volunteer with the following skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Knowledge and understanding of financial services, and especially digital platforms that enable digital economies and financial inclusion of Pacific Islanders and Governments;
  • A degree in Financial Management; and
  • Work experience in development finance, capacity building of Government partners, and enhancing partnerships with private sector organisations.
