To complement our current project expansion, The Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency is now seeking a Financial Accountant (senior position within the Finance team) to join our team on a fixed-term 3-year contract with an option to renew for another term based on performance.
In this unique role, you will work alongside a team of dedicated professionals to deliver a variety of financial management functions within FFA.

Your primary objective as Financial Accountant will be to manage the financial operations team, deliver annual accounts, and secure external audit sign-off. You’ll enhance our team with a comprehensive knowledge of developing effective financial management strategies for complex organisational systems.
Your 4 primary functions include (but are not limited to):
1. Monitor budgeting by program and donor; analyse and report on complex financial accounting arrangements and issues; promptly, accurately, and proactively action tasks, respond to enquiries, and develop solutions;
2. Manage the Financial Operations team, including staff performance, training, and motivation, identifying room for improvement and implementing planned changes;
3. Provide comprehensive input towards financial policy reviews and document storage, and;
4. Act on behalf of the Finance Manager &/or the Management Accountant in their absence.

First and foremost, you need to demonstrate an understanding of FFA's systems and processes, or similar. It is paramount you are a good cultural fit for our team. As a leader, you need to demonstrate strong collaborative and communicative skills, accountability, and a track record of managing financially complex systems/teams. Transmitting financially relevant communications to the broader organisation and stakeholders in a clear and tangible language is commonplace; as such, proficiency in organisational awareness and relationship management are crucial.
