Applications are invited from interested and qualified nationals of the Pacific Island countries and territories for the above position with SPREP in Apia, Samoa.  

The CCMO is responsible to the Director through the Project Manager – Pacific Islands Greenhouse Gas Abatement through Renewable Energy Project (PM-PIGGAREP) to strengthen SPREP’s capacity on Climate Change, and assist with the coordination and implementation of SPREP’s Climate Change mitigation effort on renewable energy (PIGGAREP), energy efficiency, the clean development mechanism (CDM) and on sinks. 

Key functional areas of the post include:

• Technical Advice & Programmes
• Financial Management and Reporting
• Programme Functional Support 

Essential Selection Criteria’s:

1. Minimum qualifications of a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science, Energy or Economics or other field relevant to Climate Change Mitigation;
2. At least 5 years work experience in areas relevant to Climate Change Mitigation, and development issues within the Pacific Island Countries and Territories (PICTs);
3. Experience with climate change, mitigation, adaptation, and development issues of the PICTs;
4. Experience in project management or implementing donor funded projects
5. Proven ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary and/or multi-cultural team;
6. Excellent oral and written communications and interpersonal skills; and 
7. Ability to meet project deadlines.
