About the Opportunity

 

FFA is now inviting applications for the position of Deputy Director-General, based in Honiara, in the Solomon Islands, on a full-time basis. 

 

This is a critical position in the executive team of the FFA Secretariat. As Deputy Director General, you will be responsible for oversight of the governance and conduct of the Agency’s technical and professional activities and providing direction on the Agency’s work programme.  In support of the Director General the role has responsibility for the oversight of all strategic, technical and administrative aspects of the FFA Secretariat.

In order to be considered applicants must provide :

  • A completed copy of the Application form which addresses the key selection criteria.

To be successful in this position, you will have a tertiary qualification in fisheries management, fisheries development or equivalent. You will also have demonstrated a high level of experience in the fisheries sector and have a background in the management of an intergovernmental organisation or medium-sized national organisation or corporation.

 

This position requires someone who can manage multiple activities at any given time and the ability to prioritise and delegate workloads asnecessary to deliver work within tight deadlines. You will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to pursue Secretariat goals within approved government parameters. 

 

Please Note: Previous experience living and/or working in the Pacific Region is also desirable. 

 

About the Benefits

The Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) is offering the successful candidate a competitive remuneration commencing circa $144,000 (subject to exchange rates) TAX-FREE for citizens of most countries, commensurate with skills and experience. You will also have superannuation paid at 7.5% into either a nominated fund or as an additional cash supplement. FFA reimburses all reasonable medical, dental, and optical expenses for yourself and your dependents. Insurance coverage is also provided for personal accident, life, medical & repatriation.

 

Education for dependent children will be reimbursed at 75% of tuition fees (Conditions apply). If your dependent child is educated overseas, paid school travel may be available for you or your child to visit each other once a year. 

 

Accommodation assistance is also available.
